Extensive annotations in pencil and ink on back flyleaves, and further annotations and markings throughout. Provenance: in ink on front pastedown, stamp: 'C. W. Harris'. In pencil on front endpaper recto, inscription: 'J. Harris[?]'. Further 'Harris' inscriptions on pages 44, 53 and page 567 verso. Binding: nineteenth-century brown half calf with brown marbled paper boards (worn), triple ruled in blind where the materials meet. Five raised gilt-ruled bands, decorative tooled panels. Red spine label, gilt-lettered. Blue endpapers. Blue marbled edges.
