Provenance: Previously the property of Mary Drewe (1900-1985), elder daughter of Julius Drewe and Frances Richardson Drewe and removed from Castle Drogo in 1954 when Mary left to set up a nursery school in Exmouth. Bequeathed to the current owner by Mary Drewe, and gifted to the National Trust for Castle Drogo, 2024. With presentation inscription on upper flyleaf: 'To Fanny Richardson in remembrance of preparation for confirmation Feb. to 16th May 1887 with love and best wishes from E. D. Knox. Deut XXVI.17.18 I Tim. VI.12.' Binding: Publisher's brown cloth adhesive case-binding with gilt lettering on upper cover; author's name and decoration stamped in black on upper cover with further decorative element stamped in black on lower cover; pale yellow endpapers.
