Provenance: Twentieth-century armorial bookplate, signed G.S. 24 [1924]: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Twentieth-century full black deerskin with pattern of gilt stamped stars; single gilt fillet to form an outer border on boards; gilt stamped centrepiece on boards: gankyil ("wheel of joy"); gilt lettered upper board and spine; sewn onto five raised bands; single gilt fillet on board edges; triple gilt fillet on turn-ins; gilt top edge; grey endpapers; black ribbon marker. Gilt stamped on front turn-in: 'Bound in deerskin'. Binder's gilt stamp on rear turn-in: 'Truslove & Hanson. Clifford Street. W.'. Original front wrapper and spine bound in at end.
