Provenance: Twentieth-century pictorial bookplate (sailing ship with Fairhaven arms on sails): ‘Sapphire R.Y.S.’ and ‘Broughton’ [i.e. from the library of the yacht ‘Sapphire’, owned by Urban Hanlon Broughton (1857-1929), later by Cara Leland Rogers, Lady Fairhaven (1867-1939)]. Purple ink-stamp on front free endpaper: ‘S.Y. SAPPHIRE.’ Binding: Twentieth-century full publisher's blue cloth; gilt rolled outer border on upper board and spine; blind rolled outer border on lower board; gilt lettered upper board and spine.
