Binding: Late nineteenth- / early twentieth-century half red morocco, red cloth over boards; sewn onto three recessed cords; five raised bands; gilt tooled spine; gilt stamped spine compartments: 'N' in laurel wreath, imperial eagle, and bee; spine lettered direct (gilt tooled): 'Private life of Napoleon' and 'Levy / Vol. II'; gilt textblock edges; pink endpapers.
