Provenance: Manuscript inscription on front free endpaper: "This Volume belongs to / John Nichols / 14 Highbury Place / Islington / Middlesex" [i.e. John Nichols (1745-1826)]. Nineteenth-century shared book label of John Nichols, John Bowyer Nichols, and John Gough Nichols [i.e. belonged to John Nichols (1745-1826), and his son and grandson John Bowyer Nichols (1779-1863) and John Gough Nichols (1806-73)]. Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (small variant), signed Badeley 1930: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)].
