Provenance: Twentieth-century pictorial bookplate (sailing ship with Fairhaven arms on sails): ‘Sapphire R.Y.S.’ and ‘Broughton’ [i.e. from the library of the yacht ‘Sapphire’, owned by Urban Hanlon Broughton (1857-1929), later by Cara Leland Rogers, Lady Fairhaven (1867-1939)]. Purple ink-stamp: ‘S.Y. SAPPHIRE.’ on front free endpaper. Binding: Early twentieth-century full publisher's maroon cloth; double blind fillet to form an outer border on upper board; gilt tooled series title on upper board; gilt lettered spine.
