Inscribed note pinned to flyleaf: "For the funds of the ancient church of S. Martin a church of the Earls of Stamford when Lords of the Manor"; blind stamped: Beech Hurst, Ashton-upon-Mersey; dated: Octr,, 1914. Autograph letter signed pinned to verso, from Charles Renshaw to Lady Stamford, thanking her for donation and sending book, 30.11.14. Binding: publisher's brown cloth, upper board lettered in gold.
