Buckland is credited in the preface as having assisted with the explanatory notes]. National Trust oak-leaf ink-stamp: 'The National Trust founded 1895' on verso of dedication leaf. Binding: Early nineteenth-century full green calf; triple blind fillet and gilt rolls (Greek key pattern and palmettes) to form an outer border; blind rolls to form an inner border; five raised bands; gilt tooled spine; red spine label: 'King Coal's levee'; gilt rolled board edges; gilt textblock edges; pink endpapers.
