Summary
Bibliographic description
1v. ; 19cm. Provenance: manuscript notebook or journal. Inscribed: "C. Vaughan December 1833" [i.e. Charles John Vaughan (1816-1897)]. One initial annotation: "Rupell's Modern Europe. Addenda." The following leaves are numbered up to 70 and not beyond. All other leaves are blank apart from l.1, inscribed "Part the first", and l. 11-62 and 64-69, which have all been torn out, but were clearly copiously inscribed. L.63 is extant and is inscribed "Llandaff". Charles John Vaughan was appointed Dean of Llandaff in 1879 and is known to have had his papers destroyed at his death in 1897. Some of Vaughan's possessions, including books, passed through his widow, Catherine Maria Vaughan, née Stanley (1821-1899), to the 9th Earl of Stamford, then at Llandaff House, Weybridge. Binding: nineteenth-century half red morocco, with marbled paper boards. (Poor condition. Spine wanting, section enclosed.)
