Provenance: Nineteenth-century anonymous crest bookplate: greyhound sejant and collared, with crescent [i.e. cadency mark of second son]. Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (large variant), signed Badeley 1930: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Nineteenth-century full straight-grained red morocco; gilt fillets and roll (palmettes) to form an outer border; sewn onto five recessed cords; gilt tooled spine, lettered direct: 'Grose's Antiquities', 'England & Wales' and 'Vol. VII.'; gilt rolled at corners of board edges; gilt rolled turn-ins (Greek key pattern); gilt textblock edges (earlier marbling visible on fore-edge); green ribbon marker.
