Provenance: inscription on front free endpaper: For James Corry Jones Lowry R.A. from his cousin Hester Lowry. In memory of her dearest brother Thomas Groves Lowry Royal Engineers, who fell before Sebastopol June 1855 aged 20 years. The Pocket Prayer Book had long been known and valued by him, he took it to the Crimea & his own copy had the appearance of being constantly in use."[i.e. to Colonel James Corry Jones Lowry (1836-1897) from Hester Lowry (1833-1876), sister of Thomas Groves Lowry (d.1855)].
