Pencil inscription on front pastedown: "Fairhaven from C J Leslie Hall May 1939" [i.e. to Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Twentieth-century full publisher's maroon cloth; gilt-stamped centrepiece of elephant on upper board; gilt lettered spine.
