Provenance: Twentieth-century pictorial crest bookplate: ‘Urban Huttleston Rogers Lord Fairhaven’ [i.e.: Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Manuscript inscription: "I am proud to think that I / shall repose, so nobly clad, on / the shelves of that lovely library / where I have spent so many / happy hours. / December 1953. Leo Amery" [i.e. from the author, Leopold Charles Maurice Stennett Amery (1873-1955), to Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]. Binding: Twentieth-century full blue morocco; triple gilt fillet to form an outer border; gilt armorial centrepiece stamp of Lord Fairhaven on upper board [i.e.: Urban Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966)]; gilt-panelled spine with gilt-lettered spine title; five false bands; double gilt fillet on board edges; gilt fillets on turn-ins; gilt textblock edges; marbled endpapers; blue silk ribbon marker.
