Provenance: eighteenth-century Jacobean armorial bookplate (Franks 32206), lettered: William Windham Esquire [probably William Windham III (1750-1810)]. Inscriptions on half-title page: "R" and "Al: D..." (illegible, cropped). With a few washed-out marginal annotations. Binding: early nineteenth-century full Russia leather, dyed brown; sewn onto five recessed cords; four false bands; single gilt fillet border with small annulet cornerpiece stamps; single gilt fillet along board edges and turn-ins; blind- and gold-tooled spine; gilt title, vol. number and place/date of imprint (incorrect) lettered directly onto spine; shell pattern marbled endpapers and textblock edges.
