Binding: nineteenth-century full blue calf; double gilt fillet to form an outer border with small gilt cornerpieces (flowers); gilt centrepiece on upper board: arms of the Royal Agricultural College; sewn onto three recessed cords; five false bands; spine gilt; brown spine label (gilt-tooled): 'Lives of Boulton and Watt / Smiles'; gilt edge rolled; marbled edges; marbled endpapers.
