Inscribed on t.p.: W. Windham. Feb. 1786.Gilt armorial device on binding: Léonore d'Étampes de Valençay (1589-1651), Bishop of Chartres (1620-1641) ; Archbishop of Reims (1641-1651). Typescript note on the binding inserted, signed byhand: RWKC 1947 [i.e. Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)]. With a separate printed leaf: Society of Antiquaries of London, session, 1947-48: the reverse has been used to paste catalogue cuttings and an illustration of another binding bearing this device (the earlier of his stamps, used when Bishop of Chartres). Binding: seventeenth-century calf laid over eighteenth-century boards; gilt armorial device in centre of upper and lower boards; sewn onto six raised bands; gilt lettered spine label: Philonis Opera.
