In it he write that he returns the book, having finished the drawing, which he hopes "Circe" [i.e. Edith 7th Marchioness of Londonderry] will like. Provenance: Inscribed on second flyleaf "To Charles Stewart of the Ardes of Co. Down, descendant of Banquo, Thane of Lackaber. These particular adventures which [...] his family have been faithfully chronicled by the "Lordly Ones" of Mount Stewart. Signed ELondonderry, Margaret Stewart, Captain Stewart RN [i.e. Mairi Stewart], Helen Stewart, Edmond Brock Christmas 1928." [i.e. presented to Charles 7th Marquess of Londonderry by his family and the artist Edmond Brock Twentieth-century armorial bookplate showing Vane-Tempest-Stewart arms marshalled with Chaplin, motto "Metuenda corolla draconis, with two supporters, all underneath a marquess's coronet with helmet and griffin passant crest, flanked by two badges, lettered in banner "Charles Stewart Henry Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry KG" [i.e. Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, Viscount Castlereagh, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915 (1878-1949)]. Binding: Twentieth-century publisher's full maroon morocco, gilt illustrated centre-piece, gilt corner pieces on a single blind rule border. Five false raised bands, gilt tooled and lettered in spine. Gilt edges and marbled endpapers.
