May 19, 1970" [i.e. given to Charles Stewart Vane-Tempest-Stewart, Viscount Seaham, and from 1884 6th Marquess of Londonderry (1852-1915)]. A later hand has added on verso flyleaf "Mountstewart Library" [poss. written by Millicent Kinsey, Mairi's governess]. Binding: Nineteenth-century full green grained morocco, gilt fillet forming a border. Sewn on recessed cords, five false raised bands, gilt tooling on spine, brown leather spine labels lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers and edges. Stamped on verso flyleaf "Bain Binder".
