Provenance: Inscribed on flyleaf "To my darling Mairi, whose horsemanship and love of hunting are so like her grandfather, and from whom she inherits her love of all sport, from her devoted mother 1933" [i.e. presented to Mairi Vane-Tempest-Stewart (1921-2009) by her mother Edith Helen Chaplin (1879-1959), m. in 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Twentieth-century pictorial bookplate with an image of Strangford Loch set in a medallion, above which is a winged horse, and set between thistles and lillies, images of a horse and dog supporting an image of the Annunciation, and a row of books. Lettered "Mairi Stewart". All in a Celtic knot border with heraldic corner pieces. Binding: Twentieth-century publisher's full maroon cloth, gilt armorial centre-piece on upper cover, gilt lettered on spine. Gilt-top.
