Provenance: Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (dated 1922) set in a landscape with De Lazlo's portrait of Edith Lady Londonderry in the uniform of the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps in a medallion above, lettered at the bottom of the plate "Edith Helen Marchioness of Londonderry. D.B.E." . Motto in Scottish Gaelic over portrait ("Tha mo cridhe's an tir nam beann" [My heart is in the land of mountains]) [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin, m. in 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Binding: Nineteenth[?]-century half blue calf on marbled paper over boards, gilt tooled and lettered on spine, including "Vol. 2". Gilt-top, marbled endpapers. Binder's stamp on flyleaf verso "Bagguley, Binder, Newcastle-under-Lyme". Bound uniformly with Maugras's Duc de Lauzun and the court of Louis XV (lettered "Vol. 1")
