10 v. ; 15 cm. Imperfect: 2 vols only (De l'amour [17th ed.] and De l'amitié [15th ed.]), bound uniformly. Provenance: De l'amour has a booklabel, lettered "Baronne Ernest de la Grange" [(1854-1899)]. Both vols have an additional gilt lettered leaf "La motte-aux-bois Août 1915" [i.e. Chateau de la Motte aux Bois, the seat of the De la Grange family]. Both vols also have twentieth-century monogram bookplate with initial ‘E' against a rose inside a marquess's coronet and a framed by a double L [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin (1879-1959), m. in 1899 Charles Vane-Tempest-Stewart, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Perhaps a gift from Amaury de le Grange, a pilot and politician, to Edith 7th Marchioness of Londonderry. Binding: Twentieth-century half brown morocco on marbled paper over boards, gilt decorated and lettered on spine. Marbled endpapers, gilt-top. In marbled paper open-ended case.
