Provenance: v.1 inscribed "Margaret Greville Polesden Lacey 1921" [i.e. Margaret Helen Greville, DBE, née Anderson, (1863–1942); v.2 inscribed "Cecil A Bailey 29th Aug 1923". All volumes have twentieth-century armorial bookplate , lettered "John Stafford Reid Byers" with manuscript "1943" [i.e. barrister, of Waterfoot House, Newcastle, County Down, (1903-1984)]. Vols. 2 and 3 with blue bookseller's ticket on lower pastedown of W.H. Smith & son, booksellers & stationers, 19-21 Corporation Street, Birmingham. Binding: publisher's dark blue cloth, gold-lettered on spine.
