Provenance: twentieth-century armorial bookplate (dated 1922) with portrait: "Edith Helen Marchioness of Londonderry. D.B.E." [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin, m. in 1899 Charles Viscount Castlereagh, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Motto in Scottish Gaelic over portrait ("Tha mo cridhe's an tir nam beann" [My heart is in the land of mountains]). Inscribed on half-title: "To Mary K. Andrews from her affecte sister Elizabeth Andrews" | "R.J. Welch, from Miss Penelope Andrews Oct. 1934." | "The Marchioness of Londonderry, D.B.E. from R.J. Welch, Nov. 1934." Welch's manuscript, biographical note on the author and her sisters is tipped in beneath, initialled 'R.J.W.' Binding: publisher's burgundy cloth, gold lettered.
