Provenance: Inscribed (and crossed out): "Harriet Dye, Sept. 23rd 1833. The gift of her father". Also inscribed "Isabel J. Crewe to Hilda H. Crewe Nov. 20, 1902" [i.e. presented to Hilda Ethelfreda Harpur Crewe (1877-1949), daughter of Sir Vauncey Harpur Crewe, 10th Bt, and Isabel Adderley, by her great-aunt Isabel Jane Crewe (1831-1909), daughter of Sir George Crewe, 8th Bt, and Jane Whitaker]. Binding: Nineteenth-century half calf on marbled paper over boards, gilt rule on leather pieces. Four false raised bands. Gilt tooling on spine. Marbled endpapers, edges sprinkled brown. Spine label wanting, upper board detached.
