I in the hand of Edith Marchioness of Londonderry, describing how the volumes were handed down through the generations from the editor onwards and how she acquired the volumes in 1935. Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (dated 1922) with portrait: "Edith Helen Marchioness of Londonderry. D.B.E." [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin, m. in 1899 Charles Viscount Castlereagh, 7th Marquess of Londonderry from 1915]. Motto in Scottish Gaelic over portrait ("Tha mo cridhe's an tir nam beann" [My heart is in the land of mountains]), dated in ms. 29/4/35. Binding: Nineteenth.century[?] half sheep on marbled paper over boards, gilt tooling on spine. Maroon leather spine label, lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers and edges. Ticket on lower pastedown: "W. Erskine Mayne 3 Donegall Sq. W., Belfast"
