With a note on headed paper from the Vice-Chancellor of Queen's University Belfast: "A motto from the Greek Anthology for Mount Stewart" - text in Greek with English translation: "I am full of waters & gardens & woodland & leafy places & with the joyousness of the neighbouring sea". Provenance: Inscribed: "Lady Londonderry with the author's kindest regards, Nov. 2, 1933" [i.e. presented to Edith Helen Chaplin (1879-1959), m. in 1899 Charles 7th Marquess of Londonderry, by R. W. Livingstone]. Twentieth-century armorial bookplate (dated 1922) with portrait: "Edith Helen Marchioness of Londonderry. D.B.E." [i.e. Edith Helen Chaplin, m. in 1899 Charles 7th Marquess of Londonderry]. Motto in Scottish Gaelic over portrait ("Tha mo cridhe's an tir nam beann" [My heart is in the land of mountains]). Binding: Twentieth-century half polished mottled calf on marbled paper over boards; maroon leather spine labels lettered in gilt. Gilt-top.
