Extensive pencil figures and calculations at rear of v.1. Occasional ink marginal and text marking in both vols. Provenance: from the library of Dr Samuel Johnson (1709-1784). Pencil inscription on front pastedown: "Fuit e libris boni humani et Reverendmi Sam. Johnson" [written by William Windham III (1750-1810), who was a close friend of Johnson and who bought a number of Johnson's books at the sale of his library in 1785; this was lot 590]. Eighteenth-century armorial bookplate (v.2 only), lettered: William Windham Esquire [i.e. William Windham (1717-1761)]. Binding: late sixteenth or seventeenth-century reverese calf; sewn onto five raised bands; gilt embossed centrepiece, triple blind fillet borders; spine labels (part missing) added later: Mirandulae Opera; manuscript fore-edge titles: Opera Ioan Pici Mirandula I | Opera Ioan Francis Mirandula 2.
