Provenance: autograph note inserted, with embossed header: 3, Kings Gardens, Hove, Brighton, inscribed: "Hearing that you appreciate the author, I send this - with my love Helen Carew" [i.e. probably Helen (Kennard) Carew, née Wyllie (1856-1928), former friend to Wilde]; pastedown inscribed: Harold Nicolson. Binding: twentieth-century green morocco, gold tooled boards and spine; five raised bands; gold lettered spine, all edges gold. Binder’s gold stamp on turn-in: Hatchards 187 Piccadilly.
