Provenance: Vol. 1 is inscribed on second flyleaf: "In memory of Major John Leche of Stretton whose integrity of heart, simplicity of manners, and genuine love of rural sports deservedly endeared him to society. He died on the 4th of April 1815 Aged 76. Simon Yorke [i.e. Simon Yorke II (1771-1834) of Erddig, son of Philip Yorke I of Erddig and Elizabeth Cust], his friend, & an executor of his will dedicated this book Oct. 23d 1815". On upper pastedown of all vols: Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate, lettered "Erthig"; "Michell Bond St", with mark of cadency [associated with Simon Yorke III (1811-94) of Erddig, son of Simon Yorke II and Margaret Holland]. Binding: Nineteenth-century full calf, gilt and blind panel, gilt rule on board edges and gilt doublure. Sewn on 3 recessed cords, false raised bands. Gilt tooled on spine, lettered direct in gilt on spine: "Daniel's Rural Sports" "Lond. 1812". Green endpapers and gilt edges. Boards detached.
