Provenance: manuscript inscription on half-title: "Sarah E Ingestre from her new brother W C Talbot Novr 1828" [i.e. a wedding gift from either William Whitworth Chetwynd-Talbot (1814-1888) or his brother Wellington Patrick Manvers Chetwynd-Talbot (1817-1898) to their sister-in-law Lady Sarah Elizabeth Beresford (1807-1884). Her father was Henry de la Poer-Beresford, 2nd Marquess of Waterford. She married on 8 November 1828 Henry John Chetwynd-Talbot (1803-1868), Viscount Ingestre, later 3rd Earl Talbot and 18th Earl of Shrewsbury. Their daughter Lady Constance Talbot (1836-1901) married her first cousin William Schomberg Robert Kerr, 8th Marquess of Lothian, and she lived at Blickling Hall until her death]. Binding: nineteenth-century blind-embossed dark purple calf; elaborately tooled in blind and gilt to a panel pattern, each panel featuring a different design, the central panel with a lozenge design; gilt roll pattern on board edges and turn-ins; gold-tooled spine, with gilt title on red goatskin label. Marbled edges and endpapers.
