Given by his affect[ionate] Mama" [i.e. a birthday gift to William Schomberg Robert Kerr, 8th Marquess of Lothian (1832-1870), from his mother Lady Cecil Chetwynd-Talbot (d. 1877)]. Binding: nineteenth-century full polished calf; gilt triple fillet and blind triple fillet border, with small gilt and blind flower cornerpiece stamps; gilt roll pattern on board edges and on turn-ins; gold-tooled spine; gilt title on green (faded to brown) leather label on spine. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers.
