Shugborough [i.e. Thomas Anson, of Shugbrough (1695-1773) or Thomas Anson, created Viscount Anson & Baron Soberton, 1806 (1767-1818)]. Inscribed at head of pastedown: Tho: Adams 1s-10d [this is presumably the latter Thomas Anson; his father George Adams (1731-1789) changed his name to Anson, when he inherited Shugborough in 1773]. Binding: seventeenth-century vellum; yapp edges; manuscript spine title upside down.
