Provenance: early twentieth-century bookplate loose: HDA cypher, maquesses' coronet with vignettes of several diplomatic stations: Hariot Dufferin & Ava; signed: H.J. Badeley [i.e. Hariot Georgina Hamilton-Temple-Blackwood, Marchioness of Dufferin and Ava (neé Rowan-Hamilton), 1843-1934]. Half-title inscribed: "This labour of love, I offer to my own darling gal[?] Dufferin and Ava. Having been blessed with such a mother who could have dared hope for such a wife!" [i.e. from Frederick Temple Blackwood, Marquis of Dufferin and Ava (1826-1902)]. Binding: green cloth, decorated on upper board with gold coronets surmounting letter 'D', with the same blind embossed on the lower board, leather title label on spine.
