Provenance: armorial bookplate: lion crest on a chapeau in a garter, earl's coronet, 'Ingestre Hall' [i.e. Ingestre Hall, near Stafford, seat of the Earls Talbot. The bookplate is probably that of either Charles Chetwynd Chetwynd-Talbot, 2nd Earl Talbot (1777-1849), or Henry John Chetwynd-Talbot, 18th Earl of Shrewsbury, 18th Earl of Waterford and 3rd Earl Talbot (1803-1868). Lady Cecil Talbot (1808-1877), daughter of the 2nd Earl Talbot, married in 1831 the 7th Marquess of Lothian. Lady Constance Talbot (1836-1901), daughter of the 18th Earl of Shrewsbury, married in 1854 the 8th Marquess of Lothian. It was probably through one of these two ladies that these books came to be at Blickling].
