Messel 1886 [i.e. Ludwig Messel (1847-1915)]. Inscribed "L.C.R. Messel". Earlier provenance inscription ("Alice ?) erased. Bookseller's ticket on lower pastedown "W.& E. Pickering, new & second-hand booksellers, stationers, &c. 3, Bridge Street, Bath". Binding: publisher's blue cloth, gold and black-decorated, blind-embossed on lower board, gold-lettered, gold edges.
