[8], 300 p., [11] leaves of plates ;. 20 cm. Provenance: Inscriptions in ink on titlepage: `W.H. Loosely', and in pencil on flyleaf, but rubbed out: `W. Henry Loosely'. On front inside cover is loosely inserted a photograph, inscribed `C.W. Kent about 1882'. On flyleaf is embossed stamp of W.H. Smith & Son, [booksellers], London. Loose at p. 137 is a cigarette card, issued by John Player & Sons as `Old naval prints' no. 3. MS comment in ink added at end. A pencil note on titlepage identifies illustrator. Binding: Publisher's case, covered in pictorial red cloth, with gold lettering on spine, and black on front.
