Unrelated compliments slip from Bury Street Gallery laid in. With a postcard laid in the envelope, headed Holmsted Manor: Cuckfield: Sussex, inscribed in pencil: “These editions of The Nymans Library were given me by Florence Walford August 14th 1953. They had been given to her in 1933 by my beloved Lennie Maud F Messel”. Provenance: with a letter laid in from Eleanour Sinclair Rohde to Mr. Comber [i.e. James Comber, (d. 1953) Head Gardener at Nymans from 1895 until 1953]. “I thought that perhaps you might like to have one of these separate leaflets of the Nymans Garden library. They sent them a long time after the publication of the Journal!” Binding: brown cloth over boards, gold-lettered.
