Loosely inserted: brief manuscript letter in juvenile hand from Jenny Ross to 'Lady Nicolson, expression sympathy on death of Rollo [Vita's dog]. Provenance: pictorial bookplate: “Vita. A good book is the best of friends the same today and forever. 1908 Knole” [i.e. Vita Sackville-West, 1892-1962]. Endpaper inscribed: "To my little blue stocking, this book bought at her own request, from Mother. March 1908." [i.e. from Victoria, Lady Sackville, 1862-1936]. Binding: twentith-century half green calf, with green cloth on boards; gold tooled and gold lettered spine. Endpaper binder's stamp: Truslove & Hanson, 6, Sloane St., S.W.
