Provenance: nineteenth-century crest bookplate, after 1831, with earl’s coronet: Lichfield [i.e. Thomas William Anson, 2nd Viscount Anson, created Earl of Lichfield, 1831 (1795-1854); and also used by subsequent earls]. Pencil annotation on p. lxxvii: [with reference to test] "Julia Viscountess Powerscourt who gave me this book. L" [i.e. hand of Thomas George Anson, 2nd Earl of Lichfield (1825-1892)]. Binding: nineteenth-century blind embossed brown cloth, gold ostrich device on upper cover.
