An album of cuttings of woodcuts and engravings of British butterflies arranged by family, along with some manuscript notes by Caroline Catherine Wilkinson, nee Lucas (1822-1881) [identified by initials on leaf 15 recto]. Probably created by Lady Wilkinson at Brynfield House, Reynoldston on the Gower. Provenance: Caroline Catherine Wilkinson, nee Lucas (1822-1881). Nineteenth-century armorial bookplate: 'John Gardner Wilkinson Brynfield House.' [i.e. Sir John Gardner Wilkinson (1795-1875)] and printed label 'Sir Gardner wilkinson Brynfield House Gower'. Binding was originally embossed with'West Middlesex [Volunteer] Rifles' [of which Gardner Wilkinson was a member] and a note on leaf 29 records 'Nation's gift [?] Volunteer Camp & Club ... .Aldershott.
