A further press article: 'Concerning the silhouette. By Haldane Macfall' affixed to rear endpaper. Ms. dated: 14 January 1914. Affixed to half title, notepaper with embossed header: 16, Dryden Chambers, Oxford Street, W.: featuring "pictorial memorandum" with date, time and silhouette; signed: Desmond Coke; manuscript note inside: "I called & saw Mr. D. Coke's beautiful collection of silhouettes on Tuesday 20th Jan 1914 ... V. Sackville." Front endpaper page reference and corresponding text mark and correction. Provenance: titlepage inscribed: "Given to me by the author October 1913. V. Sackville" [i.e. Lady Victoria Sackville (1862-1936)]. Endpaper inscribed: "To Lady Sackville, another lover of the shadows, Desmond Coke. 1914." In place of bookplate, a pencil manscript note: "To make a book plate with silhouette (self) and name and Knole and date, page 165". Binding: dark blue publisher's cloth, gold lettered spine, white lettered upper board with cherub emblem.
