Nineteenth-century anonymous armorial bookplate with arms & motto 'Saper aude' of the Earls of Macclesfield: 'North Library. Press mark [81.F.6 added in manuscript] Ent.d in catalogue - (1860).' [i.e. the library at Shirburn Castle]. Arms also blind stamped on leaves *i-iii. Pencil number '101284' on rear pastedown. Binding: late eighteenth-century full tree calf; gilt tooled spine; six raised bands; all edges yellow; gilt-lettered on red spine label 'Dionysius Halicarnassius'.
