Avray Tipping, to Lady Sackville; embossed header: Brasted Place, Kent; dated: 29.8.11; with regard to visit to knole, sending the book. Provenance: decorated bookplate: A good book is the best of friends the same today and forever. One of the books of Victoria Sackville Knole Sevenoaks [i.e. Lady Victoria Sackville, 1862-1936]. Endpaper inscribed: "To Lady Sackville / In memory of many happy hours spent a Knole / H. Avray Tipping 1.1.12" [i.e. Henry Avray Tipping (1855-1933), British writer and garden designer]. Binding: red publisher's cloth, gold lettered and decorated. Upper cover and preliminaries have severe water damage.
