xiii, [1], 230 p, [8]p of plates : ill., map ; 23 cm. Loosely inserted two picture postcards of Zanziber, uninscribed; Zanzibar Island shore excursion brochure ([4]p.), Mitchell Cotts & Company. Brief rear endpaper page references and corresponding text marking. Provenance: pastedown inscribed "V.S-W. / Sissinghurst" [i.e. Vita Sackville-West, 1892-1962]. Endpaper inscribed in pencil: "For Vita from Edie with love- / Christmas 1959." [i.e. from Edie Lamont]. Binding: grey publisher's cloth, gold lettered on green spine block. (Water damage lower fore-edge.)
