[1] to James Watts [Agatha Christie's brother-in-law] from Lyonel Watts, and on preliminary leaf of vol. [2] to Madge Watts [i.e. Agatha Christie's sister] from same, both May 1948. On second page is described in ink a `scene' depicting James Watts reading these books. On facing page is written `1948' and an explanation of the three anniversaries: the family firm, 1798; the birth of James Watts, 1878; and the building of his house, Abney Hall, 1848. Small rubber stamps on verso of flyleaves: `Bound by Paynter [?] (Riviere), Bath, England'. Binding: Bound in red leather, with gold borders on fronts and gold lettering and decorations on spines. Marbled endpapers. Gilt edges.
