Article from; THE TIMES THURSDAY MARCH 13 1952 REPAIRS TO LANTERN OF ELY CATHEDRAL RAVAGE OF DEATH-WATCH BEETLE FROM OUR SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT ELY, March 12 "This is perhaps the greatest piece of fourteenth-century oak work in the world." The reference is to the lantern of Ely Cathedral, and its author is Mr. W. F. Haslop, who has just concluded a survey that discloses serious deterioration in the timbers supporting the lantern and in the vault arches under it........'
