Provenance: Loosely inserted: large folding ms. table in early nineteenth-century (?) hand, with notes for identifying and managing trees; perhaps intended for use on The Vyne estate? Armorial bookplate: Chute of the Vyne [i.e. Chaloner William Chute (1838-1892); the plate was designed for him in 1885 by his brother-in-law William Wyndham Portal, but also used by later generations]. Binding: Nineteenth-century half maroon morocco; morocco sides; spine gilt with title ‘Evelyn on forest-trees’l five raised bands; binder’s ticket: J. Low, 43, Southampton Buildings, late 29, Cursitor St., Chancery Lane.
