Ephemera: printed folded sheet ([4] p.) inserted between p. 34-35, which seems to be an extended advertisement for Parr's Life Pills, containing a portrait and description of the Countess of Desmond, a description of the wonders of Parr's pills, correspondence regarding Parr's pills, advertisements and testimonies for Spencer's Pulmonic Elixir, and Old Parr's Almanack for the year 1861. Provenance: bookplate of the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society. Manuscript inscription beneath bookplate in the hand of Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969): "I bought this pamphlet from among some surplus volumes sold ... [illegible] the library of the Archaeological Society in December 1946". Inscribed on front free endpaper: "R.W. Ketton-Cremer Felbrigg 1946" [i.e. Robert Wyndham Ketton-Cremer (1906-1969)]. Author's gift inscription on front fly-leaf: "For the library of the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society. With, Richard Sainthill's best respects. Cork, 3rd April 1862". Manuscript annotations and corrections to printed text in the hand of the author Richard Sainthill on pp. 24, 54. Binding: nineteenth-century purple cloth; gilt title along length of spine. Yellow endpapers. Cloth binding and endpapers with extensive water and mould-staining.
