Summary
Indian themed child's waistcoat with stripes of different fabric with alternate panels with detailed goldwork. Starting with the front, left and right sides are identical in goldwork and beads embroidered over red velvet which continues over the shoulders with more goldwork. Next is a gold metallic material, and then green satin with heavy goldwork. The gold metallic material is repeated with the left side having one small red velvet goldwork piece and the right having two in an L-shape. The next panel is gold and green silk brocade and then a panel of green satin with goldwork. The metallic gold fabric is repeated, and then a purple velvet panel with goldwork, and then a panel of gold and green silk brocade, with the centre back panel being red velvet with detailed crewel work. This pattern is repeated to the front right of the jacket. At this centre point, there is a gold/silver tassel with a padded wooden stick in the middle, with a ball wrapped with thread at the end. The waistcoat is edged at the bottom with gold metallic material. It is lined with a cream silk. It is in average condition, fraying in parts and lining coming away in places.
